Governor Hochul has announced the start of construction on the Crow’s Nest expansion at Niagara Falls State Park. Fisher Associates is excited to be a part of this transformative project in collaboration with New York State Parks and our other teaming partners.
The project aims to provide visitors with an enhanced way to experience the American Falls. The new stairway and overlook structure will connect the existing Crow’s Nest feature to Prospect Point, offering breathtaking views of the falls and the gorge.
Our landscape architecture studio has designed the trail to navigate the park’s challenging terrain while ensuring an exhilarating and safe visitor experience. A highlight of the expansion is a steel observation platform perched on the very edge of the waterfall, providing sweeping views and a unique vantage point. A sculptural bench at the center of the platform will serve as a resting spot and guide pedestrian traffic.
In addition to the new stairway and overlook, we’ve designed a pedestrian railing system inspired by the rugged character of the site, ensuring it is both visually unobtrusive and durable enough to withstand harsh climate conditions.
Work on this project will begin in early September and is expected to be completed for the 2026 season. We’re proud to enhance one of New York’s most iconic natural landmarks and look forward to the exhilarating experience this project will provide to visitors from around the world.
